· Black walnuts are native to the eastern and central United States. Used in cooking and baking, they have a robust and distinct flavor that sets them apart from the more widely known English Walnut. Nutritious, flavorful, and good keepers when refrigerated or frozen, Black Walnuts are a tasty addition to everything from appetizers to desserts.
· Hazelnuts are one of the most nutritious nuts with a distinctive flavor and crunch.
· Pine nuts are edible seeds of certain pine species. Pine nuts are known throughout the world as a nutritious healthy snack (raw or roasted) and essential ingredient in multiple oriental and Mediterranean dishes.
· Hickory nuts are very delicious. The hickory nut is related to the pecan, but is smaller in size and more flavorful. They are indigenous to North America. In Missouri, there are two native species of hickories that make excellent eating: the shagbark hickory (Carya ovata) that produces the most delicious nut and the shellbark hickory (Carya laciniosa) that produces a much larger nut.
